Uber will test using drones for Uber Eats deliveries in some U.S. markets by the end of this year, part of a new partnership with Israeli startup Flytrex. The partnership will also include a small investment in Flytrex, though Uber told Bloomberg News the investment amount was not material. The deal comes at a time when Uber has been re-engaging with some technologies that it used to develop in-house. Uber has been partnering with autonomous vehicle companies like Waymo to offer self-driving rides in cities such as Atlanta, and it’s aiming to bring electric air taxis to its service in…
At the “Make with Notion” event on Thursday, the company announced the launch of its first AI agent. The agent will draw on all of a user’s notion pages and database as context, automatically generating notes and analysis for meetings, competitor evaluation reports, and feedback landing pages. The productivity platform said that the agent can create pages and databases, or update them with new data, properties, or views. Users can also trigger Notion agents from outside platforms that are linked to the service. For instance, you can ask the Notion agent to create a bug-tracking dashboard from various sources, including…
Dell Technologies is betting on AI as companies move from small pilots to full-scale deployments, with the focus now on how organisations can turn AI into measurable results. But scaling AI is not easy. It demands strong infrastructure, reliable data management, and the ability to deploy models quickly in different workflows.Dell has positioned itself to help companies make the leap. Its AI Factory, Data Lakehouse, and AI Data Platform – developed with support from NVIDIA and other partners – aim to give enterprises the building blocks needed to turn experiments into production systems.AI News spoke with Christian Spindeldreher, EMEA Field…
President Donald Trump made countering immigration one of his flagship issues during last year’s presidential campaign, promising an unprecedented number of deportations. In his first eight months in office, that promise turned into around 350,000 deportations, a figure that includes deportations by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE (around 200,000), Customs and Border Protection (more than 132,000), and almost 18,000 self-deportations, according to CNN. ICE has taken center stage in Trump’s mass deportation campaign, raiding homes, workplaces, and public parks in search of undocumented immigrants. To aid its efforts, ICE has at its disposal several technologies capable of identifying and…
EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) — In the soft dirt of an indoor horseback riding ring last month, a group of farmers got ready to test drive a new piece of equipment: an electric tractor. As they took turns climbing in — some surprised by its quick acceleration — they gave real-time feedback to the Michigan State University researchers who have been developing it for over two years. The farmers remarked on the motor’s quiet whir. Most were intrigued, or at least open to the idea. Some were concerned that the battery on the underside of the carriage would mean a lower clearance…
The U.S. Department of Justice on Thursday unsealed federal charges against British teenager Thalha Jubair, who prosecutors accuse of being involved in at least 120 cyberattacks, including the U.S. Courts system, and the extortion of dozens of U.S. companies. Jubair, 19, was arrested on Tuesday at his home in East London, according to a statement by the National Crime Agency. He appeared in court on Thursday morning in London alongside another teenager, Owen Flowers, 18. Both are accused of involvement in a 2024 cyberattack targeting Transport for London, the government body that oversees the London public transit system, which resulted…

Google Cloud announced Thursday it has added fast-rising AI coding startups Lovable and Windsurf to its roster of customers. Both companies have chosen Google Cloud as their primary cloud computing provider, the latest sign of Google’s rising prominence against larger rivals AWS and Microsoft Azure. The deals also highlight Google’s efforts to make its cloud business more central to the company’s future. Today, Google Cloud is overshadowed by larger competitors like AWS and Microsoft, as well as Google’s much larger advertising business. But it is seeing upward momentum. Google Cloud is one of the company’s fastest-growing business lines. On its…
Chinese technology giant Huawei announced its plans for the next generations of its Ascend chip line at the Huawei Connect 2025 event in Shanghai this week.In his keynote to the conference, deputy chair of the Huawei board, Eric Xu, said that 2025 had been a “memorable year,” and noted the debut of DeepSeek-R1 in January as a turning point for the company. He also acknowledged that China is likely to lag behind in semiconductor manufacturing process nodes, “for a relatively long time.”The company’s response to tariffs and trade embargoes is to advance infrastructure design and technology, plus it’s made the…
Tech giant Huawei unveiled new AI infrastructure meant to help boost compute power and allow the company to better compete with rival chipmaker Nvidia. At a keynote at its Huawei Connect conference on Thursday, Shenzhen, China-based Huawei announced new SuperPoD Interconnect technology that can link together up to 15,000 graphics cards, including Huawei’s Ascend AI chips, to increase compute power. This tech seems to be a competitor for Nvidia’s NVLink infrastructure, which facilitates high-speed communication between AI chips. Technology like this is critical for Huawei to better compete with semiconductors like Nvidia’s. While Huawei’s AI chips are less powerful than Nvidia’s, being able to cluster them together will give its users access to more compute power, which is needed for training and scaling AI systems. This news also comes just a day after China banned domestic tech companies from buying Nvidia’s hardware, including Nvidia’s RTX…
