It’s a question that’s triggering a lot of scrambling in search of answers.  This existential crisis is also playing out in the world of tech. We’re more reliant than ever before on services working — on uptime, in other words — and downtime may speak to bigger crises…

By Hannah Lang (Reuters) -U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday signed into law a bill to overturn a revised rule from the Internal Revenue Service that expanded the definition of a broker to include decentralized cryptocurrency exchanges, according to a statement from the White House. In the last weeks of the Biden administration in December, the IRS updated its crypto tax reporting rule that it had finalized earlier in 2024 to clarify that its new guidelines would also apply to decentralized finance – or DeFi – exchanges. Both the House of Representatives and the Senate in March voted to nullify…

The sale of bankrupt EV startup Canoo’s assets to its CEO has been approved by the judge overseeing the case. After evaluating a number of limited objections to the sale, Judge Brendan Shannon said in a hearing Wednesday he believes the process was fair and that no one else but Canoo CEO Anthony Aquila made a bid. Shannon’s decision paves the way for Aquila to buy most of the assets of the EV startup for around $4 million in cash. Aquila plans to offer services to customers such as NASA and the Department of Defense, which purchased a few Canoo…

Bitcoin is currently trading at $79,150, showing a modest 1.8% gain in the last 24 hours, although it remains down about 4% over the past week. The recent price movements come amid growing global trade tensions and new tariffs announced by President Donald Trump. These tariffs, aimed at several countries, have sparked broader market volatility. While equities have been hit hard—with the S&P 500 dropping 12% between April 2 and April 8—Bitcoin’s decline over the same period has been far less severe. This has prompted analysts to re-evaluate Bitcoin’s relationship with traditional markets. Grayscale’s head of research, Zach Pandl, noted…

Charles Hoskinson, founder of Cardano, has predicted that Bitcoin could reach $250,000 by the end of this year or next. Speaking during an interview with CNBC, Hoskinson attributed his optimistic forecast to several factors, including rising crypto adoption, U.S. legislation around stablecoins, and the involvement of major tech companies. He also pointed out that the market might stall for the next three to five months, but come late summer or early autumn, he expects speculative interest to drive prices higher for the following six to 12 months. Hoskinson’s comments come as Bitcoin is recovering from a sharp dip below $77,000…

There he saw that Coinbase was hiring, and boldly sent the head of operations a cold email asking if he could work for the crypto exchange. “Long story short, I ended up writing much of the early software that powered the Coinbase…

Bitcoin surged to $82,700 recently, causing excitement in the crypto market. However, experts, including trading firm QCP Capital, have warned that the rally could be a “classic bull trap.” This term refers to situations where rising prices lead traders to believe that an upward trend is sustainable, only for the market to reverse and punish those who bought in too late. QCP Capital’s analysis points to the possibility of a quick downturn if China retaliates in the ongoing trade war with the United States. The rally began when U.S. President Donald Trump paused tariffs on most countries, bringing temporary relief…
